This is an issue that I was told not to touch. I am sorry I have to and I want to open this subject different to what you might think.

There is this misunderstanding everywhere. Religion is not belief, it is not faith. These two are entirely different subjects. Many people use it in the same context. Many people can not differentiate. People out there start being interested in what you talk about before you make it a sentence. You don’t need to be religious to believe and you don’t automatically believe when you are religious! People deny the existence of God because they are disappointed by the religion, by the church. The belief has nothing to do with it!!! If you want to change something you have to stay inside, turning your back on something that you do not agree with is like drinking when you are hungry.

There is this rumor about the Catholic Church now. Yes there were many mistakes made. Yes many people representing the Church, failed. Yes this needs to be uncovered and brought into light. Yes these people need to be facing consequences and I am not talking about waging fingers and a – that was no good.

What amazes me is that this argument or the main issue seems to be the homosexuality of the ones to blame, the discussion concerning the celibacy. Can anyone tell me what either of these two has to do with child-abuse? Is the abrogation of the celibacy the solution to child-abuse? NO IT IS NOT! Children are also abused by people outside the clergy. There are many children abused by people that don’t even know that a church exists. Or do all homosexuals abuse children? NO THEY DON’T! There is nothing like a homosexual child-abuse community. These are excuses as well as it is very simple to raise this issue as an item of the Church only. THIS SUBJECT IS NOT CATHOLIC PROPERTY! They didn’t rent it and they are not the only ones sadly enough. You are right if you say that it is especially bad when it is somebody from clergy.

Yes, I am on your side when you say they have to be good role model. Yes I am of the strong belief that the untouchables should take position. Yes there are many people saying that they are only human. I am sorry to say but this is NO EXCUSE. It is not even an explanation because that would include that each and every human rapes children. IT IS NOTHING HUMAN TO ABUSE A CHILD.

Of course I criticize the Church, but I don’t criticize the same issues. I criticize the way these issues are dealt with, I criticize that nobody said anything for such a long time. I question their trustworthy when people of the clergy are already noted as paedophiles that they are not handed over to the state. I don’t understand how dare that the Church considered this an internal affair when it concerns non-clergies? I don’t understand how these things can happen and these people responsible for it are sent to another cloister? And I don’t understand the stubbornness of some people trying to rationalize this issue with the sexual revolution in the sixties? There was nothing like positive feed-back and open sexual intercourse with children. Can anyone explain that access? I would love to understand how perversion no matter whether within the Catholic Church or not is related to the taking away the stigma concerning sexuality. Is this a kind of shifting the blame? Don’t you think it is time to stop searching for culprits? Don’t you think it is time to apologize and change? Don’t you think that the blame is no more shift-able? Why doesn’t the Church start protecting the ones that did not make themselves guilty no matter what sexuality? Why should we care whether a priest is homosexual when he knows how to support? WHAT IS IT TO ME? Why do I care when it is a priest, but I don’t when it is a butcher? Why can the street-sweeper be gay but the reverent I go to in order to talk to him about my problems or when I sit in mass and listen to the sermon can’t?  How come they are defending the guilty party still and trying to find excuses, missing the main issue entirely and preaching acceptance but condemning homosexuality as something unnatural? The Catholic Church HAS to read the signs, HAS to reconsider, HAS to start walking into a new, more open minded direction with more acceptation and less excuses.

Yes I doubt the institution Church many times. Yes I don’t understand many aspects of the Catholic Church. But there is a lot of upright and good people part of it. There are many open minded and most respectable people in the clergy. Take the bad seeds out and start a new way, walk on a new path. Renew your understanding of humanity and do it fast before there is nobody to hear you!
